✨ Building the Future While Staying Present: My Journey of Dreams and Growth π±
Growing up in Thika, Kenya, I always felt a pull toward something greater. I wasn’t sure what it was at first, but over time, the pieces of my vision started to come together. I dreamed of building a school back home, LA’BOND CREST ACADEMY, where kids could learn and grow in an environment filled with opportunity. I dreamed of creating a music label, LA’BOND DYNASTY, where artists like me could have a voice. And most importantly, I dreamed of providing a better life for my daughter, Gianna, and showing her that no dream is too big.
But dreams take time. And in that time, life happens.
When I applied for a caregiving job in the UK through AAHM Group, I felt like I was finally taking a step toward making those dreams a reality. I completed interviews, validated certificates, and handled every requirement thrown my way. Each step felt like a quiet victory — proof that I was moving forward. But then came the waiting.
The waiting felt endless. I watched as others moved ahead in the process while I was told to wait for the next batch. Days stretched into weeks, and weeks into months. I’d be lying if I said it didn’t weigh on me. There were nights I lay awake, questioning everything. Was I doing enough? Was my future slipping away while I stood still?
But then something shifted.
I realized that waiting didn’t mean stopping. Life was still happening around me, and every day was a chance to grow, to prepare, to become the person who would be ready when the door finally opened. So, I started focusing on what I could control.
I poured myself into learning — not just about caregiving, but about AI, music, and storytelling. I envisioned LA’BOND as more than just a name; it became a symbol of everything I stood for: connection, creativity, and community. I even started writing about my journey, and to my surprise, people began reading. Over 200 readers in just 24 hours. The support and kind words reminded me that my story mattered.
Most importantly, I embraced the moments that make life beautiful — the calls with Gianna, the time spent dreaming about the future, and the quiet mornings where hope felt just a little stronger.
Now, as I stand on the edge of something new, I understand that building a future isn’t about racing toward a destination. It’s about every step along the way. It’s about finding purpose in the waiting, strength in the setbacks, and joy in the smallest victories.
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” — Eleanor Roosevelt
If you’re reading this and feeling stuck — maybe your dreams feel distant, or life isn’t moving at the pace you expected — know that you’re not alone. The waiting isn’t wasted time. It’s your foundation.
What are you building while you wait? Share your story in the comments — let’s inspire each other to keep growing, no matter where we are on the journey.
